  • Supervised 150+ research and industry projects on materials selection/ corrosion assessment for companies/ institutions in oil/gas and chemical applications.
  • Designed and built customized equipments and experiments, e.g. flow loop, autoclave, wear test.
  • Provided technical support to customers for testing procedures, experiments, and result analysis.
  • Wrote proposals to obtain research and industry projects.
  • Organized and managed the workflow, safety and quality assurance in testing laboratory.
  • Wrote literature reviews on corrosion, corrosion inhibitor, materials selection, laboratory testing, refinery, oil and gas production, etc..
  • Wrote SOPs for corrosion testing, mechanical testing and electrochemical measurement.

  • Prepared plane-view and cross-section transmission electron microscopy (TEM) specimens by twin-jet electropolishing and ion bean thinning techniques.
  • Observed severe plastic deformed microstructures (nano-grains, nano-twins, dislocations, etc.) of nickel-based alloys by means of TEM and high resolution TEM.

Baker Hughes – Celle Technology Center

Materials Scientist – Intern (June 2010 – August 2010)

  • Performed independent research on pitting corrosion of Ni-base alloys in drilling fluids.
  • Failure analysis of drilling & downhole tools damaged by corrosion and environmental cracking in hostile oilfield fluids (both brines and produced fluids).
  • Projects encompassed detailed microstructure analysis and characterization of affected metallurgy and fracture surface.

  • Investigated corrosion resistance of surface-treated nickel-base alloys by using localized electrochemical impedance spectroscopy and scanning Kelvin probe microscopy in different corrosion environments.
